What is the advantage of this over a new rubber manifold? Is this more like the original manifold, or is it just cool? I've got no problem with cool, I build stuff just because its cool all the time.

Brian,
Here's how it came about. First - the only other option I ever knew about was a part from Sudco, which you had to spread the mounting holes out from 64/65mm, to the 68mm needed - and when you did that, the holes would almost break through the outside of the flange. Overall, you wished there was something better.
If you know of a off-the-shelf alternative, I and other folks would like to know.

I went to a Ahrma road race two weeks ago, to deliver a Sachs porcupine head to a guy. He asked me if I could design and make him some 'D' model intake manifolds. When I told him about the Sudco piece, he said that's what was on them now, they're no good anymore, and that he wanted something better. So that's how this started - I'm also confident the seal (air) between the cylinder and manifold is bomb proof.

Joe, Thanks,
the original size of the intake port on the cylinder is 30mm, so the ID of the manifold is 30mm.

Ric, I'd be happy to, so far I'm up to 7 needed. I expect the cost to be reasonable, like around $55. Not including clamps.
Nice rhyme with the Bawb/jawb thing. :D I'll get with you about which carb(s) you're using.

Thanks

Neato Bob,I'll need 2 to start with.Just let me know when they are done and form of payment,etc.28 Bing carbs by the way. Thanks,

Nope, dont know of anything that will work. I knew there was something people modified to make work, but I couldnt remember what it was. This looks like a lot better setup. This is the best kind of part you make instead of  buy, it not only looks cool it also works better.

Hi Ric,
I will have one to you in 7 to 10 days.
I was exploring the option of having the aluminum pieces CNC machined. But considering the qty, it did'nt become cost effective.
Here's where I'm at -
I have 4 of the aluminum parts ready.
I have 15 of the steel pieces made - those need to be zinc plated.
I need to get the rubber hose - those will be squarely cut on a lathe, to the proper length.
And even though your typical run-of-the-mill hose clamp will work. I'd like to locate some good looking, strong clamps. (that's for a 2" OD - any leads are appreciated)
Thanks Ric, talk to you soon.
Bob

Robert,

those manifolds are coming along nice,

check with aftermarket turbo/inner-cooler suppliers {automotive} for your hose clamps, these applications should use something better than your standard hose clamp,

hope this helps,
