What are the benefits of a 34mm Mik flat slide vs. a 36mm Mik VM round slide?

I have an Ultima class bike & thinking about switching to a flatslide. (Yam IT 200) I do not want to loose any bottom or mid range.

I tried looking on the web, but could not find anything abiout them except that they flow better at WOT.

Flat slides do run cleaner, but if your round slide is not damaged I think its money better spend elsewhere, like suspension. Getting your shock rebuilt/revalved/resprung for your weight/skill and Race Tech Emulators for the fork will net you VASTLY more performance gains than a carb swap.

the previous post should have said 34 Mikuni VM instead of 36)

It already has the RaceTech upgrades for both the shock & forks. The bike has a 34mm VM already on it and I just happen to have a 34mm Mikuni flatslide laying around and was wondering if it would be worth it.

If you already have the suspension done, and if you have the carb already, I would definitely try it. What have you got to lose? A couple of years ago I tried one on the Big Maico and couldnt tell any difference from the round slide I have on it now.

If you go flat slide put on a Lectron.

Stick with the VM Mikuni. Best carb overall out there. Flat slide Mikuni are not that good.  Keihin are better there.  If you go to a flat slide, I agree to go with Lectron.
