Braving the woods I took some CC pictures but not without incident.  Moving from one spot to another between two trees I suddenly began feeling pain in various spots of my left leg.  Apparently, I had stopped on top of a bee's nest.  As they began swarming out of the ground it was time to find a new location and gash my knee.  Apologies for the quality as the camera was off the normal activity setting (the blurred background does add a little action flavor though.

Best as viewed as a slide show :-)

Thanks Dale!   Several Penton riders shown that I do not know.  Those I do know are:

44u Kid Christopher-Berkshire,  84c Kirby-Berkshire, 50v EP- Harescrambler, 96z Spenser Balentine-Harescrambler,  55 Chi Jerry-cannedham, 15p Mike Parker-Jackpiner, 40c Wild Bill on the steel tanker.

Can you or anyone else ID the others?

For the record, there was a Green Honda SL 125+++ that went like stink, hole-shotted and was gone.  Kid Christopher got a good start, number 2 into the woods but then missed a turn and was at back of Expert pack.  Worked his way toward the front, 2nd overall I think.  Be interested to see the lap times.  That green Honda was fast and its rider was the best out there for sure!  Kirby DNF - he forgot the 6P's - - proper prep prevents ...

Some of the other Penton riders are: 184 - Gene Saunders on his Hare Scrambler, 20h - Marc Hodge - CMF Six Day, and G13 - Bill Haschak - Jackpiner.
Not sure who #131 is. Someone else help out!

Kid Christopher was moving very fast but.... the Green Honda was absolutely blasting through the woods for the full hour.  He repeated the same performance in several MX classes on Sunday.

#131 is me, Sean Guthrie from Indianapolis.  This was my first race of any kind.  I did the CC and VMX.  Made the sighting lap and 2 race laps before it kicked my butt.  I got a second place finish in Novice VMX.  I had a blast and plan to compete more in the future.  The bike did much better than me.  Time to hit the trail and get some practice!

Welcome to the POG Sean.  If you liked Barber you might want to consider ISDT RR at Combs Oct 29,30.  Nice trail ride, a few specials, some grass track, ISDT Vets, good folks.  And rocks ... old rocks, new rocks, big rocks, little rocks, hard rocks, round rocks, square rocks, rolling rocks. Good skid plate and Pablo's Butt Glue #7 recommended.

Maybe most impressive in Classic is Max Richardson on the big Triumph twin!  Consider what it takes to hustle a 400 pound rig through tight woods!

Dwight Rudder

Sportsman Open Intermediate 2011 Champion, 66 year old Gary Travis, rode Saturday but only managed one lap.  He had a massive stroke Monday and is in the Hospital in Birmingham. UAB Hospital, Stroke Ward S. He & I spent Friday walking the swapmeet. He appeared in good health then. We at Vinduro are praying for his rapid recovery.
Thus far he is paralized on one side. He is talking and is worrying about getting his AHRMA Championship Jacket. Please keep him in your thoughts.

I don't know if the wife will let me away this soon for another event.  I may be done till next year.  I'm going to try and plan a few more events close to home in the future.  Max is a good friend of mine and a big reason I decided to race my Penton.  He can really throw that big twin all over in the woods.

Sorry to hear about Gary, what was he riding?  I'm sure I saw him at one point out there.  I will keep him and his family in my prayers this week.

Gary was riding his 1973 Husqvarna WR250.

Got to speak with Gary today. Someone had to hold phone for him but he sounded pretty good. Tired and only slightly slurred speach. Still paralized on his right side. He is now able to open one eye.
I am still pulling for a full recovery.

Update on Gary Travis. Gary was moved today to Glen Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center in Northport, Al (Tuscaloosa).  I guess that is a good sign.
