A friend of mine is looking for any leads on availability of a new 2012 KTM 250SX. As I understand it they have all been pre-sold into next year and there are none to be had. Any one know of a dealer with a new one to sell? [email protected] Thanks, Mike

Have you tried Mike Lewis in Lawton. Back in 02, I was searching for a SX125 and was told the same thing, but called Mike and he had one on the floor, so I bought it.

I never heard of a 250 sixdays, they are 125's. So far no dice on a 250SX 2 stroke, a lot of XC's and XC-W's, but it looks like end of August if we are lucky for 2013's. Thanks Donny, I'll try Mike. Mike

Michael,
Have you talked with Mike Lewis yet? Did he have one, or could he get one for you. Mike is an old Penton dealer. I bought my 1969 Six Day from him back in the spring of 69. Then in 72 I bought my Jackpiner from him as well. And the 2002 KTM 125. He is a great guy and was one of the fastest and smoothest riders I have ever seen on Cross Country or an Enduro. He was on the Six Day Team for a few years as well. Mike and Leroy Winter did the 152 mod to my 69 Six day in the late summer of 69.

I called and spoke to him today, but he didn't have even a line on one. It looks like my friend will be putting money down on a 2013. Maybe I should be thinking of doing that myself when I get my Tax refund. Thanks, Donny. Mike
On another unrelated note, I have a pair of 17 1/4" Vintage Works Performance Reservoir shocks on ebay:

My good friend, which is also my sons cousin, Nic Newkirk, took delivery of this stunning 2013 KTM 250SX on Thursday, and it looks, runs, and handles Great! KTM pulled out all of the stops on this one with a total redisigned frame and ignition with 2 stage map that plugged in adds more timing for top end performance and with it disconnected, adds more mid to upper mid response.
The only issue with this bike which now has 7 hours running time on it, and ever since we got the bike home, once fully warmed up, the bike will not start until it completely cools down with the ignition map wire connected.
The bike came with the wire connected and the mechanic that tested the bike didn't have any problem starting it after 2-3 short rides. If you disconnect the wire, the bike starts good hot or cold, even when it won't start with the wire connected. I even changed the plug and it started right up, but acted the same when the bike was ran for 3-5 minutes.
I am taking it back in the morning to Terre Haute to have the mechanic look at it.
The mechanic said it was the fastest bike he ever test ran, & I believe it! If anyone has any suggestions, I would like to hear them, and we even tried shutting off the gas early before shutting it off. Mike

I had an 07 300 that had the dual stage ignition.  KTM sells a switch that mounts on the handlebar that you can switch back and forth between maps.  I never had any problems starting the bike in either position.  I imagine the dealer will change ignitions to make the problem go away.
