I have a pair from Al, but they don't flow the fuel fast enough. The bike starts and runs for about a minute or so and runs out of gas.I disconnected the line and opened both petcocks and the gas dribbles out.

I bought a pair from AL at Rik Smits swap meet, and I thought that they looked like the smaller outlets, unlike the ones I bought from him a couple of years earlier at Mid-Ohio. I almost have a SOLD KTM MX-6 finished and will have to check the flow on these this weekend before test running it prior to delivery. Mike

Is the gas cap venting ok?

Dale Sonnenschein

even with the cap off the gas barely trickles out.

Mike,

no need for L&R with these, they point in to the middle when mounted properly,
cut the lines to fit with a "T" in the middle,

the seller quoted me 2.50 UK for shipping, i guess about $4.00 US, sounds fair enough to me !!!

Mike,
Original ones that point to the back work better under acceleration, which require LH & RH like the originals. They would still work though. I will have to look up the Domiracer ones Per Ron C. to see which they have. Mike
**The 16mm ones on page 2 of the Domiracer site look just like the smaller outlet ones in LH & RH that I got from AL.** Looks like the eBay ones are the way to go unless anyone has a better option for a higher flow petcock. The stock 38mm Bing on this 78/79 MX-6 250 will probably be pretty thirsty! Mike

Dale,
Gary Ellis fiddled with one of my new Petcocks that you could barely blow through in the on position, but was less restrictive in-between the detents. On one of them the detent was at the 7:30 position instead of the 6:00 position and oriented similarly off on each detent, and it was easier to blow through the petcock in about the 8:30 range, while the other petcock didn't hardly allow air through it at all, no matter if on or between positions. Gary pulled the control lever out of the better one and installed an old used control lever assembly in varying positions and it worked much better in some areas, so I will tinker with them tomorrow and try to find ones that work best in the new petcock bodies from my old petcock inventory and post my findings. Evidently the control part of the new petcocks are in some way made wrong, but other than being thicker, they look almost the same. It may be that the detents are in the wrong place on the rotating control or dimpled stationary washer with the locating tab on it, or something in that area that is wrong.
I would bet that these came from DomiRacer from the similarity of the improperly positioned detents as pictured on their site on one of the petcocks. Mike

POG members,

Have you checked out the //www.guzzino.com website?  they have OEM style fuel petcocks which appear(some) to be like those on the cmf bikes from the 70s.  go to "search" and then type in "petcocks".  Also, a great selection of vintage CEV tailight material, etc..

cheers
