I have a KTM the number on the frame is 855 08543, the number on the left side of the crank case is 54.30.003.010, the number on the right side of the crank case but smaller is 54.30.004.010,  the clock on the side of the engine case points to 10 and it looks kike it says 77 under the arrow.  The piston has 2 rings but is stamped .060, can any one tell me what year and size I have???

Thanks Bob,  I was told and thought that I had a 81.  Now I wonder if parts are more available for a 78 than a 81!

Motor parts for the 78 are fairly abundant not as much for the 81 motor.  Body stuff is slack for both.  The 78 is that way because it was the only year for that body and paint.  The reason for the 81 is that the 80's were not good motorcycle years as far as sales goes and not as much was produced.
