AHRMA LEGAL ?

Would a sleeved down husky 125 be legal in the 100cc class? Just saw one that somone is building. Dont know to much about the bike. Saw it at my welders shop.Beautifull bike.Show room condition .Welder frend was fitting a RM 100 pipe on the bike.Need to know if I will have some competition that will run with my Berkshire

No, it is not AHRMA legal. No sleeved bikes of any kind are allowed.

I didn't think so. If he tries to run it I may have to say something. There are a couple of other bikes out here that are Questionable.It also had a mikuni carb on it.Not sure what size it was.

Would have had to be produced as a 100; any bike for the 100 class. But could run it in Sportsman 125 or  Classic 125.

Having said that, those Husky 125s were not very good bikes at all, and I cant imagine taking 25cc away from it will make it better. I would protest the bike, but it will be no match for a Berkshire or a Super Rat.

i've seen several 100cc hybrids built for his series, some of these bikes have big $$$ in them !!

it wouldn't matter if he ran it as a 125 anyway, your Berkie would spank it - LOL -

I keep forgetting about Marty Tripes series, it could be for that, but I agree, a Berkshire will spank it easily even as a 125.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I remember "back in the day" the 125 Husky wasn't much of a contender.

But, in the mid 90s I did a bit of AHRMA MX and there were a few of those buggers that really flew. I inquired with a Husky expert on one occasion and he informed me that there were a few tricks to make them competitive, I think the guys I was racing knew those tricks...

Are there still some competitive 125 Huskies running?

You remember correct Paul, they were not very competitive. They can be made competitive, but they are not very reliable even stock. You will see one in Classic 125 occasionally, but not very many.

A 175 jug and piston might make the 125 Husky a little more competitive in the 125 class ....and unless you pull the head you can't tell the difference from the outside.  Might note a deeper exhaust bark.  A buddy of mine has one, but I haven't heard it run.

I would agree that the 125 Husky was not that beastly back in the day. Although I must say that the bike that Arlo Englund ran at the 1976,  125 nationals was fast and he did well on it. Nils Nilsson and Mickey Kessler had top 5 finishes in '75.  I guess they could be modified to run well.

There is one husky here in the NW that is  competitive.It has the so called factory upgraded parts.I raced my Berkie in the 125 expert class all summer and led many laps. The only place a 125 would pull me would be up hills,unless I could get a good run up the hill to keep my momentum up.

Bottom line is how good the rider is. In Oct 1971 we took a 125 Montesa with a stock engine and won the 125cc Tri State Championship in Amarillo TX.  Really pissed off the Penton Central Team, but that just shows you that 90% is the rider.

If I remember correctly, boost ports could be added along with other mods to make it quite fast. They probably hadled bout as well as anything else in 1975.
