ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ad # 3208299   January 2, 2013
AMA has officially named tracks and dates for the series

There should be and official announcement in a day or so but they have set a schedule:

Actions Sports May 4-5
Log Road MX June 1-2
Lincoln Trail June 22-23
Mid-Ohio July 19-21

First race is the same as Devils Ridge, second is the same as Axton, third is the same as Smith Rd. I figured I'd save everyone doing the same thing.

Bummer for the date overlap.  I will be at Devil's Ridge and was planning on Smith Road, since it is way closer.

I suspect the information should be posted on the AMA web site when officially announce the series/schedule.  My assumption would be same vintage classes as VMD.

So they intentionally scheduled their races on weekends when AHRMA had races? Way to stay classy AMA.

I loved racing at Action Sports last year on the AHRMA schedule so may try to make it on the AMA this year.  I held my AMA race card last year to race Mid-Ohio but was unable to due to bike issues.  Hopefully I have 2 bikes ready to go this season so I can get a few more races in.

AMA announces AMA Vintage Motocross and AMA Vintage Hare Scrambles National Championship Series

It has been a couple years coming but it is finally here... Please help me spread the word and if you have any questions feel free to let me know.
Thanks Bart

Vintage racing is an important part of the AMA's past, present and future, and I'm pleased that we are able to expand our vintage motocross program into a series," said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow. "Our members have expressed considerable interest in more vintage racing and we're pleased to partner with an experienced promoter. I'm looking forward to some great racing on the track, as well as some invigorating bench racing and reminiscing about old times that goes hand-in-hand with the sport."

Each round will feature two days of racing: vintage hare scrambles and motocross competition on Saturdays and post-vintage hare scrambles and motocross on Sundays. AMA-chartered promoter Bart Newman from Log Road MX will serve as the series organizer in addition to hosting the second round on June 1-2.

"The chance to be a part of the AMA Vintage National Championship Series has been in the works for a couple years," said Newman. "Assembling a group of fellow promoters with a passion for the sport was paramount in making this series a success, and we have done that. This four-race series incorporates hare scrambles, vintage motocross and modern support classes for riders from 10-years old to 100-years old. I am super pumped to be a part it."

The AMA Vintage Motocross and AMA Vintage Hare Scrambles National Championship Series expand the AMA Vintage Grand Championships, held each summer at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. Previously, AMA-sanctioned vintage racing followed the AMA Grand Championship model, which has a long and proven history with premier events such as the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn's and the Dirt Track Grand Championships.

More information about the AMA Vintage Motocross and AMA Vintage Hare Scrambles National Championship Series can be found at //www.americanmotorcyclist.com/racing/nationalchampionships/vintagenationals.aspx.

The AMA, certainly, isn't concerned about AHRMA.

I agree that both could support each other and run a decent series. I was at Devils Ridge.  Great track and nice people, but definitely one of the smallest "National" events I have ever seen. Interested to hear about the turnout for the Kentucky round.  I want to ride this weekend but nephew graduation high school in Cincy.

ahrma's dates were set and published well in advance of the ama series and they put a lot of their dates directly on top of ours.  ahrma has made it a point to NOT put a race up against mid-ohio which was ama's only vintage race until this year. it does not serve either series well

Not only what Jerry said, but more importantly, why did AMA start a competing series in what is a very tiny market to begin with? I understand them wanting to run Mid-Ohio, but then they chose to split the already tiny vintage off road market by starting their own "National" series, which is an utter joke in itself because its barely even a Regional series, but thats another topic. There is absolutely NO way AMA could have thought there was a big enough pool of Vintage racers to make money, the only reason could be they are trying to put AHRMA out of business.

Makes you wonder who is behind the AMA's scheduling and if this is leftover bitterness from the AHRMA /Ianucci feud and lawsuits, etc.Like a couple of little kids fighting over a toy.
