Well I almost hit a home run on a 80 125 I picked up in MO to restore.  Started taking it apart and cylinder was worn out...but on std bore, Yea!  Clutch looked new, Yea!  However, very little gear oil came out??  Opened up the bottom end and the tranny is ruined from riding with no gear oil!  On top of that cases are cracked and the primary gear bearing has spun in the cases....oh well!

Anyone got a 1980 125 lower end they are willing to sell?

Thanks!

Mike,  Spun bearing?  No problem...  Loc-Tite makes wonderful products designed exactly for that application.  It does not hurt to use a center-punch inside the bearing case area to "raise" the area a bit.   Are the cases Al. or Magnesium?   Both can be welded.   It is a great bike to restore and ride.    Sorry about your misfortune.

Mike,
Is it the late style 1980-up 125 engine?

Or the 1976-Early 1980 style?

Jake Fischer had NOS 1976- Early 80 cases for sale a while back and may still have them.
If all else fails, I have a complete 1978 MC-5 125 engine that needs a new piston, because it is a little too scuffed for my taste, but not bored that is .020 over and has an internal rotor Motoplat that I bought from ThrownChain for $400, and was planning on putting it in a 77 MC5 chassis with D-motor 6-day wheels. According to Dennis Jones, it was a heck of a runner when he had it! Mike
