The May meeting is approaching too fast, but I plan on riding out from Indianapolis this summer for a meeting.  Are there hotels in the area close by with secure motorcycle parking?

Sean, there's a Holiday Inn Express in Vermilion, Ohio just west of KTM that is in a nice area. I know when they have Ohio bike week in Sandusky a lot of bike riders stay there. Here's a link and the hotel is on the Southwest corner of the intersection of State route 60 and State route 2. Look at the map and just south of SR 60/SR 2 you'll see "Holiday Drive" where the hotel is actually located. http://www.bing.com/local/details.aspx?q=holiday+inn+vermilion+ohio+phone+number&lid=YN873x121315594&qpvt=holiday+inn+vermilion+ohio+phone+number&FORM=ATRHNS#top

KTM is to the east one exit on SR 2, then south on Baumhart to (first traffic light) North Ridge Road east (2.0 miles) that will turn into Milan Ave. KTM is at 1119 Milan Ave, Amherst, Ohio 44001.

I'm out for June as my motorcycle clubs big summer event is that day.  If anyone is in the area it's a great time.

Looks like my best bet will be July or August depending on the dates.  The May meeting would have worked best had I planned on it earlier.  Where are the dates for POG meetings listed?  I'm sure I've seen them before but am drawing a blank.

Hi Brian,

We will be discussing and setting the exact starting time of the Saturday June 1st. meeting at tonight's meeting, but I think it is safe to assume that the June meeting will begin around 12:30 - 1 pm.

The general plan is to have the monthly POG business meeting first, then begin our walking tour of the numerous historical buildings, sites, and photo sites on the Penton property.

I was very fortunate on my first trip to Pentonville, to have John Penton personally repair the wayward transmission on an early Steel Tanker, to have met Jack Penton as we sat and waited for his Dad in the then state of the art Penton Honda retail facility. I'll never forget as we sat on cases of oil Jack showing me an article about his Big Brother Jeff riding the Berkshire Trials, I was just amazed that this guys brother was actually written up in a motorcycle magazine. About 30 years later we sat in almost that exact spot in the retail shop and started to take the idea of a Penton Owners Group from an idea to a reality.

After JP repaired my tranny he stated that a container of Pentons had just arrived and were going to be unloaded and stored at the Penton Farm Market and asked us to join the fun. When I say us, Sandie Augustine as manager of the local Penton dealer, had arranged for the repairs to be done and had done the driving. At the Penton Farm Market I was asked to place the owners manual/literature packages into the grab holes of the shipping crates of the container load of Steel Tankers as they were elevated into the loft above the Penton Farm market.

The reason I told the story above is to help explain some of the historical significance of a couple of the buildings we will be looking at. Also want to mention that the photos of the proto-model Penton were taken in the Penton Brothers Motorcycle Shop, those photos were used in the early Steel Tank Penton literature.

Anyhow, the area surrounding our meeting location is full of very interesting Penton history and what better way to hear all about it other than from the folks who were directly involved.
