Sorta Wanted: KR 250 flat track project bike

Hope my wife doesn't see this...short track/flat track has always been on my bucket list of things to do.  Walking the pits at Ashland and having a good friend go ahead and pull the trigger (he's on a Triumph 250)this summer has got me scratching the itch a little harder.

I think vintage is the way to go and I'm currently reading/learning about everything out there. And I had this thought- shouldn't I be racing a Penton?

So..are they out there?  With all of the talent on this site, I think I'd probably be more interested in finding a KR fixer upper -if such a bike exists.  Plus, knowing what a rare commodity these are (how many were actually made?) - I'm guessing a "project" is going to be more affordable.
