That track looks most excellent!  I will make sure to make it next year.

Nice job Brian, but some of those jump landings looked a little too hard for my old knees!

I'm totally smitten with that bike. Its hard to believe that it feels so different than a 400 in the same chassis, riding that 250 is just effortless. Hands down the best vintage bike I have ever ridden, short of my 100.

Yeah. Rio has a concrete start pad behind the gate and I had trouble all weekend getting a good launch without lighting up the rear tire.

Thanks for the great pictures.  Rio is a Great Track and a lot of top Pros(factory guys) from the  1970 never won there!  It is a grat track and the owner does a wonderful job on the upkeep.

Brian,

Try third gear, full throttle, and feed the clutch out as slow as possible. Almost impossible to fry a KTM clutch.

I pulled a hole shot that way against an XL650 in a flat track at Perry Mountain one year in the open class. I was on knobbies & he had special tires (you should have heard him come roaring around me on the second lap).

Even my Husky 250's responded well to the same start technique - had a top five overall time in the 1/8 mile acceleration special test at an Alabama 2 day one year (too bad I was only mid pack in the motos...).

Don't forget to get your head well past the front of the handlebars......
