I've been watching ebay and apparently Sachs mag covers are a hot commodity.

One of the reasons they are often "misplaced" from project bikes ;)

Or they have been cut, or have been damaged by a thrownchain, lots of those out there.

It is typical to find Hodaka project bikes with the ignition cover missing. If the bike quit running, the previous owner would try to fix it himself, and if he could not, the bike got pushed into the shed and who knows what happens to the ignition cover. And on most Hodakas, the shifting mechanism is in the ignition cover also. Probably the same thing with most any Sachs powered bike that had a bad Femsa or MotoPlat in it. Then there is the before mention broken chain issue. I remember getting the case guard for my steel tank Berkshire and '72 SixDays when I had them back in the day, but I guess a lot of people didn't know about them back then.
