Questions Penton friends I am in need of your experience. Can someone post what A '76 MC5 swing arm bearing looks like... or better yet the swing arm bore without a bearing. A am worried I am grinding to far but I am working sort of blind with no past experience being this bike is one year younger than I am lol. Advice and banter wanted!!! [:I]

The swing arm caged bearing is in a fairly thin shell, but the ends are curled up to hold the needle bearings in place and they are tough to grind. If you grind through to the actual swing arm the bearing will expose a sharp edge, and usually release from the swing arm where you can catch the edge with a chisel and pry it up and collapse the shell and remove it easily. If you grind a little groove into the swing arm, it usually won't adversely affect the new bearings ability to fit tightly and perform as intended. Mike

Bob, the bearings and seals in the picture are from an eBay auction for Husqvarna swingarms from 77-84:

I got them out with a carbide grinding burr. Easy as pie once I knew where to stop. My bearings were a single unit on each side that were double row wide, not two separate units stacked side by side. I assume this is no longer available? I am finally ready for blast and primer.
