Hi - I've have a 14' HiPoint for going on 20 years... the trailer is in good shape, but I would like to restore.

Does anyone know of a source for parts for these trailers?

How does one inspect the torsion system on the tandem axle?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

the axles are readily available for a reasonable price if one needs to be replaced. they are alko axles in mishiwaka, indiana, i think. i had to rebuild my hi point trailer a couple of years ago and then this last year i broke a spindle off the axle and replaced it. check the steel sub-frame pretty close, i changed a lot of mine out as it had rusted through.  i did not like how little clearance there was between the tires and fender wells so when i re-did those i brought them in about a 1/2" on bothe sides. also, i made the mistake when i was changing out somew of the various fastening bolts, i went with shiny new ones but they were not stain-less. i'm going to redo them again with stainless bolts, washers and nuts as they now look bad and are causing rust stains. as far as some suppliers that can furnish things like weather stripping, paul busick may chime in. he steered me to alko for the axle. he knew because he was working for hi pont back in the day.

I recently purchased a 14 footer from the original owner.  Included was the original certificate of origin, brochure, and a full manual.  The manual has specification, maintenance tips, and some replacement part numbers.  I can scan a copy of the information if it would be of help to anyone.

Hey, thank you very much Jerry and Dale.

I found the Al-Ko site, and a distributor's site (The OEM Parts Store) and will be crawling under my trailer shortly to get the serial numbers off the axle.

We all know these trailers are a tad heavy, so I think I need the 3500 pound axles ... http://www.theoempartsstore.com/product.php?productid=22787&cat=2505&page=1

My trailer has only one brake, so I need to see if there's an axle rated for this weight without the brake.

Dale - I'll be sending you an e-mail shortly. I think that manual would really help.

And last... as a n00b here, I have to say it's hard to hold on to my wallet with so many fantastic bikes here. What a great forum.

hi ian. i actually ordered mine through axle inc. they are in elkhart IN as well. very reasonably priced with fast shipping, and very knowledgeable. they actually talked me out of replacing the axle that had the elec brake for a non brake axle. the reason was because of what exactly happened to mine. the spindle broke right underneath the drum. anyway, you will find out that the hi-point trailers are NOT heavy. my duo axle trailer actually weighs less than 700 lbs empty. i was shocked when i had it weighed. its also the reason that they are somewhat prone to rusting through on the
sub-frames. they were not very thick to begin with, as a weight saving.    good luck, chi jer
