Greetings,

While doing a search for other information, the attached story about the Penton Owners Group's 40/10 celebration apeared. The "40/10" refers to the fact that we were celebrating the 40th. Anniversary of the Penton Sportcycle and the 10th. Anniversary of the Penton Owners Group.

There is an interesting bit of little known, or possibly forgotten information about this event that I would like to revisit. The entire event was originally scheduled for the weekend before, and notice was given out and plans were being made..... Then the phone rang, it was Jack Penton..."we have a really big problem"... turns out the gigantic world Superbike race, or whatever it was called, was being held at Indy on that same weekend, and there was no way we could go head to head for numerous reasons.... WE HAD to change our date..so we moved it back one weekend...what a blessing.

The Indy race was practically washed away as it rained and rained, and it rained in Amherst just as hard. While one week later, as we Penton folk enjoyed our celebration, the sun was shining and the weather could not have been better..:D

Thank you Ted Guthrie for writing the article that is linked below, it surely captured what just may have been our finest hour... When you open the link you will need to scroll down just a bit to the start of Ted's story.

Fantastic article Paul, and great memories of a wonderful event.

What ever happened to the tons of video shot that weekend?

Wow, I thought that we had the 40/10th anniversary DVDs available for sale on this web site. It never happened. [xx(]
There are 4 disks that were made from that event. A 4 disk set will have to be made up and made available after the POG's e-commerce web site is up and running.

It was filmed and by put together by Reb n Ted Guthrie. They did an excellent job of capturing both days of that event.  [:p]
