pretty unique machine there. not very common as a non-high breather but with the oval shaped rear down tube for laid down shocks.   most are from the west coast i think..    chi jer

Doug Knight

Yes, West Coast. This was a real barn find. More likely sold as a KTM. Rumor is that it came out of the Emerald Triangle.

Is that a engine assembly stand in your first picture? It looks like you could rotate the engine much like a automotive engine stand to reposition it? Who made it,or manufactured it? Thanks, Bob

Bob, that's the factory KTM engine stand. Dave Sanders got one, & maybe Gary too. Mike

Doug,
Is that motor stand going to be for sale too?  If so, I am interested.  Jl

When I list it, all my special engine tools and will be included. If the buyer is not needing them, I will sell the stand and tools seperatly.

The stand rotates 180 with a barrel. Without barrel and barrel studs can rotate 360. 180 side to side is enough. Really like working at 45. Old method is to use a 2x4 box which is not very enjoyable.

I have engine cases, cranks, barrels, heads, transmissions,  clutches and a large page of other parts that I will be listing here this weekend.

Bob Seymour

Can the cases be split while the engine is in the stand? Is there anything similar in the aftermarket that is universal or adjustable enough to do work on multiple brands?

Doug Knight

KTM, I had to fabricate the aft mount. Yes you can split cases while the right side is up. I just tore down a '78  while in this stand today

I seen Garys stand the other day and its the same as mine, you bought them with a dealer kit.  The one above must be a aftermarket, not the same as ours. I have made a couple of these, not real hard to make. Also made some brackits so I can mount a Sachs and a Yam IT200 motor. I have a cookie pan under mine for oil and parts. Dave

I don't know if he still makes it but I like the Rampant Racing engine stand. I inquired about him putting the pivoting supporting end on both ends so that the engine could be held in multiple places so that it could be used with a press and also for use in my blasting cabinet and while painting.
