I have a clutch cover that won't hold paint... I have used quality primer and paint but neither will stay on. I have painted dozens of these in the past without issue. This the first one that is giving me problems. Has anyone else experienced this?

What kind of solvent did you use prior to the primer? In the past I have used spray lacquer thinner but found it to leave a slight oil residue, and since then I use acetone. On KTM engines I use Dupli-Color self etching primer and DAL-1679 lacquer paint followed by Spraymax 2K clear coat for best results and gas resistance. Mike

I used a thinner. Maybe that is my problem. Thanks Mike.

I spray all my motor parts with CRC Brakleen brake parts cleaner #05084 in a green can. Walmart has it. Also spray my exhaust and air boxes. Air boxes can be a problem because of silicone. I just spray cleaner then paint. Works for me. Ol Dave
