Ok, so I need some new boots, as the A/Stars Tech 4 have started cracking and coming apart. The "Boss Lady" says, get the Supervictory, as they are mostly leather, and might last a little longer. OK.

So I ordered them, and as nice as they seem, I don't want to have a long break-in period. They are pretty stiff out the box.

I've read this post (http://www.pentonusa.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8858&SearchTerms=New,boots) and am re-thinking just getting another modern pair, and deal with them coming apart 10yrs down the road.

Have any of you bought any of these as of lately, and what is your take on these?

If you are getting 10 years from a pair of boots, I would say that is a good investment.  Go find a really muddy endure, and I bet those new boots will be a lot softer than they are today.  Have you treated them with any leather oil?  I use a snow guard paste on my 1976 Hi Points to keep them soft......

I'll admit, I didn't get a lot of riding time in those 10yrs, but now that I have a "50th Aniversary Six Day", I plan on getting out there a lot more. :D
I can't do anything with them or I can't return them. So no treatment as of yet. Just trying to make myself keep them. They also are a tad higher up the leg than the Tech 4.

Funny, I have a new pair of these same boots going on thier first ride this weekend.  I've owned about 6 pair of these and don't ever recall a long break in period with them.  My last pair I didn't do anything other than clean them as I liked the stiffness of the boot. Just wore and cleaned them. There are several folks that resole and do minor repairs on these boots. I use Fremont Boot Repair in Michigan; ask for Chad.  I usually get several years of riding out of a pair before getting them sent off for a refurb. Of course your milage may vary.

Thanks for the info Pete. I wasn't to sure about the plastic buckles/straps. It would be nice to find a supplier that had some of the older style that you slip the leather under the metal u shaped loop. Give me a report how you feel with the new ones. Thanks again.

I'm sure I'll like them as I've had a few before:

Ok; A/Stars Ride Report.  Pulled the boots on for the first time this morning and went for a 3 hr 26 mile gnarly s/t ride on my KTM300 X/C.  Creek crossings, hills, mud; all that dirty stuff. The boots lacked a little feel for the first hour or so but by the end of the ride I had forgot all about them.  Seems from what I remember from others that modern boots take longer to "break in".

Ok, thanks Pete. I may put them on and clomp around on the carpet a little bit more.

Ok, to finish this off, I put the boots on, this time with knee/shin guards & moto pants. The metal shin guards on the boots are sufficient by themselves, but there's not enough room for my knee/shin guards. The boots ride higher up, and the top won't close if I use mine. Just wouldn't work with my shorter legs.[B)] So I've returned them to Revzila, and have another modern pair coming my way. Thanks for the info Pete.
