Hey, guys. I am looking for a nice white Acerbis MX tank for my 79 KTM 250MX. Need not be mint just don't want that yellow look. I have fresh body work and I am getting ready to paint the frame this month.I would like a fresher tank also. I have looked all over for a NOS Acerbis tank but can't find one. Anybody? The tank on my bike is now starting to yellow and it is in great shape other than that. Several people have told me not to paint it as it will just get ruined when gas is added. Have any of you fellow riders out there painted an Acerbis plastic tank before?

Thanks for your help, guys!!    Ed T.

Ed,
I had the same problem with a '79 tank.  After trying just about anything I could think of I found 2 things that worked. 1-A product called Bleache White. 2-working polishing compound into the area with very fine steel wool.  I know it sounds crazy, but it worked.  I would warn you though...try either of these on a small, unnoticable area to see if it is the result you want.  Good luck.

Hey,Dave. Thanks for the info about the bleach. I forgot about that product. I have used a product called Plastic Renew and it works great on a a bunch of smaller stuff. You work to death to do it and I feel the tank being yellow all over is not worth the cost or trouble to spend all day scrubbing, sanding and polishing!!
I will try the Wesley's (I think that is the name) Bleach White and see what happens.

  Thanks, Dave.    Ed T.
