Do I remember correctly that today is John Penton's birthday?

Larry Perkins

I got home this afternoon, and realized that one of my posts didn't go through. I went to the Budds Creek National mx this weekend. I put a small banner together wishing John a Happy Birthday. I took several pics of people gladly holding it up. It ended up zip tied to the fence facing the podium. I hope the cameras picked it up!

I know we are having some problems posting pictures, based on prior notes. If anyone would like to see or forward 4-5 pics of the poster at Budds Creek, just drop me an email and I will send them to you.

I pulled this post up from last year. I will try again to get a poster on TV at the Budds Creek race this coming Saturday. How old will Mr. Penton be this year?

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Mr. Penton's Birthday is August 19th. I always remember it because I have the same birth date, except 34 years younger.

It is indeed the 19th!

Rob,Johnathan Beasley the owner of Budds Creek is a Penton man,He has a restored 125 that Barry Higgons did years ago.A couple of years ago I had his number plate signed by John.He keeps his 125 upstairs in the main building. He is a real nice guy,so if you go to Budds next week and see him say Hi for me.I will be watching the race on TV,Too hot for a 81 year old man.       Happy Birthday John

Hi Bob. I bought your 175 mc5 last year at VMD. Love it!

Last year I took a couple of pics of that bike up in the clubhouse, with some kids up there holding the Happy Birthday poster. I wondered about the history of the bike - now I know!  Jonathon is a good dude. We ran VCHSS Hare Scrambles there for years, until the woods were cut back.  Marty Hensley and I are heading up there Friday night. It may take us awhile to get out of the truck after that ride from Roanoke. We are creaky!

Update:  I have a cool banner with lots of signatures that I would like to mail to someone who could get it to Mr. Penton. Time was limited, but I was able to get fans, riders and notables to sign. The first to sign was Roger Decoster. More about that later. Anyone willing to help by providing a mailing address to their home/work, and can get it to him? Thanks in advance!

Just in case, you can text me at 540.815.8411.
