Greetings,

Last night, at the POG Family Night meeting, Todd Huffman showed about a half hour of film that could not be used in the original John Penton Story due to time constraints. These stories are just as important as what was used in the movie, but just could not be used in the original movie. Todd told us that as he edited the original footage to get the run time down it broke his heart to make the story cuts that he had to do.

Todd knew the value of these stories and the importance of the folks who told them in their interviews, and he wanted to get them out for the world to see, and we saw the fruits of his labor last night...:D

First Todd strung the stories and footage together, then he wrote the wording that would be used to connect the stories, just as he did for the original movie. But what happened next is truly incredible, but in a way not surprising. Todd contacted Lyle Lovett and Lyle instantly agreed to go into a recording studio and do the narration for this new footage, so sitting there last night and watching this new footage was just as though another disc was put into the player when the first one ended, I do not have the words to explain what it was like to view this extended footage...but fortunately you will get to see it for yourself on March 10th...:D

Todd has agreed to return to Amherst and show this extended footage at the Penton 50th. Anniversary celebration. I can assure you this is a not to be missed opportunity.

John Penton was sitting right in front of me last night as this film was shown, there were some tears at times and some hearty laughs as well, and I can assure you this will again be the case in March.

THANK YOU Todd Huffman and Lyle Lovett....

Paul

It's on my calendar, and I'm bringing my 250 Harescrambler enduro bike; hoping for a repeat of the 40th anniversary parade!
