Okay Penton wizards:
The newer models have the spokes laced with a straight pull away from each other in the alternating side by side pairs. The older ones are laced at an angle from each other in opposing pairs. Anyone know why? On the front hub the early ones have spokes that are 8", later models they're 9". Was this an improvement for strength?

I looked at my 70 Berkshire and it is laced in a cross 2 pattern and then I checked my 75 400 and it is laced in a cross 3 pattern.  The cross 3 is stronger and I imagine the spokes have to be longer to reach the extra distance.

Thanks.
That's what I've got on my 72 six days and 78 400. The spokes are twice the diameter on the 400 too, and they wouldn't fit the 125 anyway.
Can anyone suggest that I have spokes made in the longer size and lace them up X3?
