This really isn't a Penton issue, but most of our membership has been around the block a time or two, so I'll ask here;
I have a listing on a local Craigslist, and I got a response from someone with a gmail account, here is their response:

Thanks for the response and am satisfied with the price and the condition on the list,  kindly withdraw the advert from list and considered it sold. I will add extra $70 with the original price while you remove the ads. My husband will overnight  a Cashier Check/ Certified Check drawn from a local bank to you, and I will make the pick up arrangement as soon as you have the check clear and your have your cash, I would have loved to come and take a look and purchase with cash,  but my work frame (nurse) is tight. So, I'll need you to provide me with the following information to overnight  the Payment :

Name to be on the payment ...........
Address to mail the check to ........
City, state and Zip code ............
Last Asking price...................
Phone number to text you on .........

The check will be overnight to you asap and deliver to you within 24hours. hope to read back from you soon

What's the scam here?

The only thing I see here is they are pumping you for your information. Probably followed by more dangerous questions.

It's a scam, walk away. Tell them they can pay cash when they pick it up, that'll slow 'me down. I've gotten similar responses on things I have listed from motorcycle parts to farm equipment. I just delete them.

They almost always want to make the check for more than the purchase price, usually considerably more, and have you pay the shipper when they arrive. I had several such requests when I listed a TS400, and one person even with my refusal to accept his "Cashier's" check sent a Capital One credit card check. I returned it, and it came back as undeliverable. They can easily cancel payment after it clears your bank! Beware if Craiglist, Facebook is better.

IT IS AN OLD SCAM!!!  They got my cousin with the exact same SCAM...  The Cashiers Check will look perfect and will be for more money then the item but it is a FORGERY!  Then they will ask you to send them the overage which many will people do.  Then weeks later your bank will debit the entire amount and you are out the money that you sent and the part, shipping etc.
