As I have been following this thread, I have been thinking all along that the shaft sizes were 14 and 17mm. I have read either on this forum  or in Keep Track on how it is possible to upgrade a 14mm engine to 17mm, just haven't had time to do a search here. Even most small bore Japanese bikes have a shaft bigger than 12mm I think.

I think I said it wrong many years but got by because I mostly would say small one or large one.  Never too old to learn.  You can retro fit the bigger shaft in the small bikes but you either have to use 250 clutch case or use a drill press to bore out the 125/175 clutch case to 250 specs.  This more complicated and replacing case is simpiler.

I have a 14mm I got from Larry P. It is way to big for my shaft which I measured at 12MM I will get a photo tomorrow with the mic's in the opening of my old lever.
