I have some good parts for sale. I'm giving you first chance before they go on EBay.
Center cases, clutch cover, crank with rod, tranny gears. I can email photos if interested.

I eventually want to build an 82.  Same motor except for reed isnt it?

I think so.  Looking at photos the cases appear to be similar.  I don't know a lot about post 79 motors.

Mike. I believe you cannot put an 82 top end on 81 cases as there are some cut outs in the 82 case for the reed block. 81 top end will fit on 82 cases. 82 cases are a bit stronger around the front motor mount and the primary drive gear area than the 81. I have an 81 250 with a Mikuni on it. Has a bit more bottom end but my mate has one with a Lectron on it that pulls from zero.Fun bikes to ride. Cheers Bill
