'75 250 Enduro Head/Tail Light Bulb Voltage

I have a 1975 250 Enduro with lights and Motoplat Ignition.  The bike is currently not running as I am restoring it.  I'd like to run a Preston Petty front number plate headlight and the original round tail-brake light.  My original Penton Manual says the ignition is a 35 watt output.  Should I be running 6 or 12 volt bulbs ?  Thanks for any insight.

The original Motoplat puts out 6V. So if you already have the Preston Petty front plate 6V bulbs would be the way to go.  That stated, if you don't already have the plate, check out the battery powered ones with the LED headlamp offered by Preston Petty.  Way brighter, and not a lot more coin than the standard one.

Having experienced riding my Jackpiner at night with the motoplat ignition, back in the day, I would highly recommend getting the Preston Petty headlight with the battery. The Motoplat only supplies enough power to light up the headlight at high rpms. Thus if you are riding at night and let up on the throttle to slow down, you will only get a dim light at low rpms. Gets exciting when you are riding on a county dirt road in the middle of the night and have to slow down for a sharp turn.
