I've signed up to join the group and was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it takes before approval. I also just got my POG packet in the mail and was reading the minutes of the previous meetings. I noticed that during the Penton Day meeting, Doug Wilford gave a seminar on engine repair that touched on a conversation I had with my brother. He and his son are racing carts, but have started to get back into drag racing. We spoke about the leaded high octane gas he gets from a speed shop, and that I probably need to use it for my bike when I get it completed. Anyone got any thoughts to this?

Hi Robert, I ran Cam 2 race fuel cut with 93 oct. in my Husky 430. What I found was that you can over do it and the motor runs cold,so you have to find the magic mix, I might try 3.5gals of 93 and 1.5 gals race fuel. I think I was running 107oct race fuel. It really made a difference in my 430 cc Man what a blast, I miss that beast! Holly Hill Poker runs were a Hoot!

Thanks Thomas, I'll quiz my brother on the type and octane next time I see him.
About my bike and you living West Ashley, I didn't want to call the neighborhood a "project" because I think it was built for military during WWII. I do remember the SOC station @ 171 & 61. If this will jar your memory, the number plate was 40+.
Also, do you know Steve Waters? I believe his dad had something to do with organizing a club that did work in the forest with the Swamp Fox enduro. I think it was called the Family Riders MC. He is now sales mng at Michael Chevrolet in Summerville.

Thought I would check out the restoration group at yahoo. What a pain in the @#$ to get it through the yahoo stuff. Hope I don't get a zillion ads now, even after unsubscribing though all the stuff. Wouldn't it be better to run it through this site rather than them??  Dave

Dave, I use Norton SystemWorks on my system and you should be able to set it so you don't get all those adds. I

Why are there so many hoops to jump through to join?  I tried when the group first started and it was more trouble than it was worth.  If it could be done easier or even through this site it would get used more and more info would be given out.

The reason new members must be approved by the moderator ( John D. ) is because all of the Yahoo groups were being joined by porn spammers with ficticious names. The approval process has eliminated the spam.

I agree - the technical articles and scans should be a part of the POG website. Maybe that would eliminate the "what year is it" posts here.

Yes it can be a pain in the a.. to join the Yahoo group.  On the plus side once you join it is super simple to join other Yahoo groups, and there are a bunch of good ones.  To join other groups you just go to the main page of the group and click "join this group"  Yahoo remembers all the "preferences" from when you joined the first time.  When you sign up with Yahoo be sure to go through all the various places and check all the stuff to cut out junk email (it actually works).

Yes it would be nice to have all the info on this site but currently that is not feasible, so the Yahoo group is the next best option.  You might want to check out some other Yahoo groups:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ahrmacc

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/VintageMX

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VintageMotocross

...and if you set your Yahoo preferences to "read on the web" and not "receive individual emails" your email inbox will not be filled with Yahoo posts.

Bookmark the messages page in your browser and it's painless to keep up with the latest posts.

Any delay in getting approved is not the fault of Yahoo. It was due to the actions of the moderator to try to rid the site of spam.

This Yahoo is like sitting on a gas rag!
