Greetings; Recently aquired my first PENTON project bike! 1971 Steel Tank, 125-6day. Engine is missing the tin tag I.D. numbers! Need complete ignition and a few other items. How do I I.D. my motor? Thanks- Mike

Mike;   if the gas tank is Green there is a very good chance your engine is a 125cc If the frame number is somewhere in the V2500- V4000 range with an alloy cylinder your engine is a 1251/6 A   You can shift through the gears to determine a 5 or 6 speed.   If you have a cast iron cylinder chances are it is not a 70 or 71 year model but a 68 thru very early 69 model year. If your engine is a 5 speed with the alloy cylinder it would be a 1251/5A.   Your ignition could have been a Sachs points ignition if you have a small black coil or one of the early Moto plats.   Hope this helps.
