I thought I would pass this on to all. I just had '74 Penton 250 shipped from Oregon to Maine. The folks that I bought it from were able to get a motorcycle crate for free from the local Yamaha dealer. Take of the bars, front wheel, and fender, bolt and strap it in, slide the cardboard cover back on and it is ready. They have always used Red Star Express, and I have to say it was the best shipping experience I have had. Red Star ships new Harley's all over and are good at moving motorcycles. The guys at the terminal were friendly, funny and helpful. They even have a terminal in Maine about 1/2 hour away. Open until 8 on a Friday night. I thought it was a dream. The best part was it only cost $345.00. Check out Forward Air... if one is nearby. I have to go 2 hours into Chelsea Mass., as close to downtown Boston as you can get. Traffic, busy place, no sense of humor... and now very pricey with their crates. I am not sure if Red Star has terminals everywhere, but if they have Maine to Oregon covered, I would say chances are good that one is not to far.
Check it out. it was an excellent transaction from start to finish.
