What a great site to find! Now I don't feel like I am the only one with these bikes hanging out in the garage any more.
I am getting the Monark back together after a center case gasket replacement and have a problem. The snap ring holding the shift drum will not seat. Makes it a bit difficult to adjust the shifter!
I can't tell from the Sachs manual exactly which side of the drum the shims should reside--and it's been about twenty years since I last split this this thing. Can anyone direct me?
Thanks in advance for your help!

welcome to the Penton Owners Group John, and yes our bikes are alive and well!!  Contact Doug Wilford for any of your Sachs need, he's the Guru on the 125 sachs.  He's listed under the members on the site.
Good luck and enjoy.

What model Sachs engine?   1251/6B!  Send me an e-mail with your problem include part numbers,   There is only two snap ring in the 1251/6 A, B. or D engines one that holds the clutch assy to the layshaft, the other is on the selector assy. and should have never been taken apart.   This assy, is critical in it's shimming and spring locations.   Please write me.  [email protected]
