Hey Guys,

This Jackpiner came up on Ebay, it had a buy-it-now of $1000 and no bids. Well, it looked like it was worth a grand to me, so I jumped. I know that there are pieces that are incorrect, but overall it didn't look bad. Item number: 4543385592 Should I have looked more closly before I leaped?

Peter, It looks ok to me also. The thing about Pentons is that they aren't made anymore and the price will keep going up when you do find them.Just my 2 cents!

I think you did pretty good.  I saw that bike listed this morning and thought it wouldn't last long.  I went to look at another auction.  When I went back a few minutes later to have a closer look at the bike it was sold!  Glad it went to a POG member.

You did well, thats a nice clean Jackpiner...looks to be a late 1973 / early 1974 based on frame, tank and black engine. I payed 500 a few weeks ago for a 75' that was not complete and has a stuck motor. Good luck with your new toy!

Do you guys tell your wives when things like this "just happen"? Or does another bike just kinda, sorta, find it's way into the nest of mechanical love?  I need to order some flowers quick.

Pete,
I was suprised it lasted the 9 1/2 hours it did.
As for 'splaining to the wife, Penton's are cheapest therepy I have
found, and she knows you will be in the garage, greasy and grinning.

As far as the wife goes, I'm really lucky:  all I have to do is buy her one once in a while! :D

Get it into the garage fast, throw some grease and dirt on it. Act like its been there for years. I've been doing this with fishing tackle for years.

Oh, I almost forgot. You need several for this tactic to work.

I just tell my wife that I am storing that "new" Penton for Doug Wilford:D

Pete, I have never regretted buying another bike but I have regretted letting a few slip away!

Doug Wilford

Like wise I have a few in storage for Paul just until he gets his new barn built!!!!!    Even my dog knows thats' a lie, but after 48 years the wife has heard it all before.   I am very lucky [B)]

To paraphrase Roger Welsch, Old Tractor Guy, you could have "like maybe a hobby weighing 120lbs, with high heels and long blond hair" instead of that new old Penton.;)
I tell my wife they are like money in the bank only lots more fun. Wildman
