Found a beautiful late 74 250 enduro with all lights, speedo, etc in little used condition... did a fews post last week on it and you guys were very helpful.. especially you Bob W.  thank you,,, I agonized for a couple daze and brought it home last nite.. it was even nicer than I thought once I knocked 5.5 years of dust off it!! (estate sale)  It really shines up nice and show very little wear and nothing is torn up.

I flushed the gas tank... gave it 4 kicks... runs like a top and even idles!!!   rode it todau... it RIPS and shifts great!!!

It's really quite original.. though the pipe seems in question.. it's a stock pipe head pipe thru stinger with a skyway brand silencer/spark arrestor. The guy who bought it from the original owner 14-15 years ago said the original owner SWORE it was that way NEW from Lindy's Suzuki in Romeo, Mich (a Penton dealer). This is a late 1974 first sold in early 1976.

It was ridden in a couple enduros and trail ridden in 1976, 1977 and 1978... then stored in the original owners basement until about 1990 when my buddy bought it.. changed the oil.. road it around some dirt roads a bit.. then sold it to the family I bought if from... who rode it up and down the driveway a couple times.. 5 years ago... so  net/net.. she's old but she's not used up!!!

It had just enought wear and tear to be called "patina" instead of "wear" or "damage"

No sign of case rot.. the seat is real nice.. bars are not bent.. magura lever and cover perfect.. even the knobs aren't broken off

the labels are still on the akront rims, cerani forks and marzooki shocks... just like my NEW 1976 Penton.. back in 1976!!!

for now I am just going to clean it.. and not even paint the pipe or the left side cover that has some paint worn off..

Thanks for indulging me by reading...

excellent story... and congrats.. no doubt you are very proud of her. I know I would be.  Send some pictures , if nothing else.. to my email - [email protected].

BTW, these guys here... go to them first for anything you might need or need to know.  They know their stuff.

That sounds like a great bike Greg. A lot of us guys were much less fortunate in the bikes we've obtained. There usually ground up restoration projects.
Also where the bikes been "setting a spell" you may want to check for little critters homes and give it a good once over, if you havent already [8D]
have fun and enjoy

thanks for the tip on the "critters".. I took the side cover off.. the air cleaner looked like it has just been clean 10 mins. ago!!!  not even any dust behide the covers or under the tank.  so I just re oiled the filter.

This bike has so little wear and tear that I did not want to get into touching it up and getting out the spray paint... but the paint worn off the side cover (very typical) really bugged me... so I covered it with clear contact paper and painted the side cover red and yellow... but did not destroy the originality or patina of the bike..all you have to do is rip off the contact paper and viola!!.. instant old bike again!!
