I won the Standard Mahle Elko Penton/KTM 250 piston on eBay for my nice 1974 Harescrambler cylinder, but the top "L" shaped Dykes ring is bad; Tight on one side and when you spin it around, it is tight on the other side. Al Buehner does not have any 71.0 mm STD rings. Can anyone suggest who might, or have one for sale? I don't want to send the piston back and spend $$$ buying a new piston and boring a perfectly good cylinder to 71.25mm if I can help it. Many Many thanks, Mike [email protected] (618)-793-2200 Days.

Hi,Here's a silly question.Couldn't you take an oil stone to ring and "file" down the high side.I'll wait now for my verbal beating,Frosty

Frosty,
If it were that easy, but the ring has a couple of tight places that are not necessarily on the bottom side of the ring, which is where you could file it flat. As it turns out, Kip has a STD ring that he is sending me, so I should be good to go once I find a pin for the piston. Thanks for the suggestion though, Mike
