A previous post by kip kern indicated that Mike at Walridge Motors in Canada may have rims and spokes for for Pentons. Can someone please let me know how to get in contact with Mike. Also, are there other sources for "close to OEM" rims and spokes. Thanks.

Nelson, the phone number for Waldridge is (519) 227-4923. The rims I ordered are for a 72 Six Day with the full width hubs WM1/21 and WM2/18. The good news they are ordered the bad news I'm at the 11 week mark now. Luckily I'm in no big hurry.

Thanks Rod. I need the wheels for a '72 Jackpiner. Probably the same thing you ordered. Eleven weeks, wow. I was hoping to find something a little more immediate. I may have to learn a little patience! Thanks again.

I ordered a set of spokes and a pair of chrome rims from Mike about a month ago. He indicated the order would be in at the end of March. I also sent him a set of front and rear spokes from a Penton with Sun rims so he could start stocking those as well. He does have those spokes in stock now. I called as a follow-up on Tuesday and they told me he is at bike week. He has been super helpfull and his prices are darn good, it is worth being a bit patient.

Hi, I'm about to go the Walridge route too. Last 2 alloy rims from evilbay were in unacceptable shape. What would the rear rim size be for 4.00x18 tire, WM2 or WM3? This would be for a 74 Six Day.

Likewise would a 3.00x21 be WM1 or WM2? Current rusty Radaelli's seem to be the same width though, front and rear, approx. 2.5", can this be right??, or should the rear be a little wider? (Rear radaelli is totally shot so re-chroming is out)

Also, have decided I want to go all the way for Metzler tires, any tips on good source for new (vintage tread pattern) and/or NOS same? Thx,

Chris, Mike is pretty sharp he will guide you in the right direction as to rim size. Now the ones I bought are for the full width hubs. There was a post a few months backs that someone bought a rim that was too wide if I remember right it caused the tire to interfere with the chain guard.

Rod - You are right, I remember that too. In fact I asked Kip about it before I placed my Waldron order. That rim came from a different source. Mike knows what size rims to select and will have good advice on spokes as well.

We have been using Walridge for rims and spokes for Triumph and BSA wheels. The hardest part is if he doesn't have them in stock, it could be a long wait. Try to plan accordingly, but a good guy to work with.[^]

Rod, Unfortunately the new designation tire sizes:  IE: 100-110 dont fit like the old  3.50x18 or the 4.00x18.  Cheng shing makes a 3.50x18.  I've installed 4 sets on all CMF framed bikes and had to grind the knobs down on the chain guard side.  The rubber tires will rub the chain guides off too !!
just a small price to pay for running a good solid competitive tire.

Raymond, thanks for bringing up the tire issue. So you're telling me that I'll need to grind down the knobs on that Cheng shing 3.50 x 18 in order to clear the chain guard? I wasn't sure the tire direction to go, this info will help. Thanks

On my other 72 Six Day the previous owner reconfigured the chain guard to allow for a larger tire.
