In the process of restoring a bike, I found this source for some hard to find items like the 77 MC 5 rear fenders. check out DC plastics here:

Hope this will help someone and not offend those who have similar items for sale!

Dear MX503, Mr. Peed, I do not feel threatened by DC Plastics, long before he ever happened, there was a dream. My parts come from "champions" and they are on "champions". But I will say, "thank someone" we live in his honor, our sons, deserve this. GN   LT

Thanks Bob, Finding a rear fender for the 76/77 MC5 is tough. Nice to see someone is making them.
side note... everytime I walk into my shop I think of the evening that you spent at my house. talking... I could not believe that we spent so much time it that very cold shop of mine. I have add insulation to the ceiling and that really helps. I should be pouring a cement floor in the next few weeks. work has been slow so I have been working on cleaning shop and throwing out junk... my how it seems to reproduce itself over night... now where did all of this junk come from....
Good to here from you again..

I just looked at the DC website and the rear fender that is listed for the 77 looks different than the fender that is on my 76, which suppose to be the same as the 77, so not sure exactly what is going on. could be just for a different seat arrangement than mine. All I know is that my rear fender is much shorter than the one pictured and it bolts to the seat at the back with three bolts.. one on each sid and one in the middle. the fender only overlaps the seat base by an inch and a half. Big Mac, how does your rear fender mount on you 77'

I'm glad someone has brought up the subject of the length of the MC5 rear fenders. I sent Don one that was with an MC5 seat I bought of unknown year which was shorter than the one he reproduced so far. someone else had sent in the longer version. Both are the same in the front where it attaches under the seat with 3 bolts, but one is noticeably longer. 1976 and 1977 chassis parts manuals list the rear fender as part # 55.08.014.000 and my 1978 MC5 chassis manaul is missing the last couple of pages that has the rear fender and associated part #, so I am wondering if the fender was changed in 1978, or maybe a replacement (superceeded) part # used a slightly longer rear fender. Any ideas? Mike

Thom,
I have not been back to the northwest in a while but I will call you when I am coming back. I sure had a great time talking about the old bikes. My understanding is the 76/77 fenders were the same but changed in 1978. Plastic parts are the toughest as they take the most abuse. With a few people making them now, hopefully we will have waht we all need.

No kidding, The rear fender on my MC5 has been on there since 77, It is a aftermarket fender but has really worked well, and has held up really well but would hate it if it got trashed. It is one of those translucent white fenders. very cool and would love to have front fender to match but so far have not found one. I have found white ones but not the tanslucent white fenders. It works and I guess that is good enough.

Thom,
You may be in luck soon. One of the front fenders that I have sent Don to reproduce was the Falk 76-78 Penton/KTM original opaque style front fender and according to Don, he has plans in the future of offering it and a couple others in opaque plastic as well as white. A 1979 original opaque rear fender that I bought from Phil Ketchum was also opaque. Don is now concentratig on the front fenders, which are harder to make molds for. Mike
