Does anyone have any idea were I can get new spokes for the rear wheel of my 1980 KTM 420? I believe the 250/390/495 uses the same wheel. I have tried to remove the spokes and nipples w/o damage but 20+ years of sitting encrusted with dirt hasn't helped matters. I have used every trick in the book but still some have broke during disassembly. I prefer to get a complete set so they match. I have tried Speed and Sport, but Matt is out of the shop for a few more days. I have some NOS KTM spokes but they do not fit my 420. I have lengths and head angles for them but no P/Ns. I'd be more than happy to trade them toward the correct NOS spokes or new stainless spokes. Any leads appreciated.

Try Mike at Walridge Motors Limited in Canada (519-227-4923). I just ordered my second set of Radaelli rims and spokes for a '73 Jackpiner from him. He was recommended to me by other POG members, and I have been very pleased with his service. He knows his wheels.

I think 1981 wheels (Sun rim) were the same as 1980.  The spoke part no's for 1981 rear wheel are as follows -

Short spoke 187mm x 115 degree bend  520.10.071.600  20 each
Long spoke  197mm x 115 degree bend  520.10.171.600  20 each
Nipples                              510.09.072.600  40 each

Try Barry Higgins at H & H KTM.

Sachsmx:  Buchanan Spoke 626-969-4655.  They can make or already have anything you need and they are stainless steel.  If you opt for the stainless nipples also, rust is never a problem again.

I believe Barry Higgins sold H&H. I can't get a hold of him.
