With the permission of the Mungenast brothers...Ray, Dave Jr., and Kurt...here is a message from their family to all of Dave Sr's friends and fellow motorcyclists.  Please continue to lift all of them up daily.

"Dear family and friends,

We are seeing the reason, once again, why Dad finished all of those grueling endurance events and persevered in the business world.  His stubbornness is keeping him going, as well as the love and support of Mom and you all.

He told Mom and others that he has seen "visitors"—visions of his deceased mom and sister, Pat.  Here is a typical "Dave-Mungenast-ism".  When Mom asked Dad what they wanted Dad said, "To go with them".  Dad also said that his mom was angry.  When our Mom asked if he was going to go, Dad emphatically said, "NO!"  He is defiant to the end, and still manages to give us laughs.

He is eating healthy, pureed food and protein shakes.  His talking is still limited to "Hi, Yes, No" type answers, with an occasional "I love you".  His throttle-hand grip is strong still, also.  We could find out all of the stats that point to Dad's health ultimately failing, but we would rather list the highlights that show a glimpse of pre-cancerous Dad.

We all know that the inevitable is coming.  Heck, it's coming for us all.  To see Dad face it in a humorously defiant way should give us all a little chuckle this week.

God bless you all,
The Mungenast Brothers
