The 2007 POG "Bike of the Year" will be the Harescrambler.  The gold tanked 250 is a unique model and the POG wants to give it its due.  This machine is known by its unique gold color, unusual exhaust pipe and black engine as well as a number of other items.

The next POG meeting will be held on November 2nd. at KTM starting at 7PM.

The Thursday December 7 th. meeting will be our annual "Family Night" meeting, at this meeting we are treated to the talents of some of our fine POG members and guests, along with food and fellowship.  Wives, children and friends are all welcome at this gathering which will take place at the KTM building at 7PM. I wonder what surprise awaits us this year.

The 6th. Annual Penton Day at the AMA  meeting will take place on Saturday February 3, 2007 and starts at 10 AM.  The outdoor display will feature the bike of the year Harescrambler but all Penton models are welcome.  The Motocross America exhibit will still be active and if you have put off seeing it this will be a great chance to do so.

Does anybody have a pic of the gold  250 Penton Hare scrambler?  maybe I'll throw one together this winter. I got 3 of them in a bucket up here.

What a coincidence, Larry Seals has numerous pictures of the gold colored 250 Penton Hare scrambler posted on the for sale site.  All mine are red ones, 74-75 with the longer rear wheel travel.

The November monthly POG meeting is tomorrow night, November 2nd at the KTM building Amherst, Ohio starting at 7 pm.  The ISDTRR this past weekend will be the "topic of discussion" topic for this meeting, I am sure that there are a few tales to tell.

All members and any non members are welcome to attend the meeting, the POG meetings are as much about good fellowship as they are about handling the business at hand.

Randy,

I can't wait to see them.

Thanks again Randy for taking the time to create those really neat  Penton Calendars.

During the year of the Jack Piner, 2005, I entered two different classes with my 1974 Jack Piner and won two Cross Country AHRMA National Championships in the Sportsman 200 and Historic 200 classes with the same bike. I LOVE my Piner and was excited that it was the year of the Piner so I wanted to race it. This year was the year of the MC5, so I built a 1977 MC5 175 and won the Historic 200 Cross Country class again with it and I used it last weekend to finish off the +60 Post Vintage Cross Country class win. I am excited that next year will be the year of the Hare Scrambler because my Hare Scrambler is awesome and I want to race it again.

I really believe it is what I have done carburetion and pipe wise that has made these bikes so fast. The Piner has a 36mm Mikuni on it with standard pipe. The Hare Scrambler has a 38mm Mikuni on it with Carl Cranke pipe. The 1974 Mint 400 has a bored out 39.2mm Mikuni on it with a 420 pipe. The 175cc MC5 has a 36mm Lectron with power jet on it, a reed cage by JP Morgen and a 1979 snake pipe. The 360cc MC80 has a 40mm Lectron with power jet on it, a reed cage by JP Morgen and standard 400 KTM snake pipe. This is the bike that won the drag race contest overall on Memorial day weekend in Kansas city against 490 Maicos, 500 Hondas, etc. All bikes with PVL ignition and most with Ohlins shocks. Great machines. I love building a new race bike every year. Since I already have the Hare Scrambler, my project for the winter will be rebuilding my CMF Six Day. Let's see, a 44mm carb might fit??? Ha Ha

Teddy,

Just a bit of a warning, we are thinking of making the KTM bicycle the bike of the year for "08"[}:)]

All kidding aside, you are a real force in the Penton/POG and AHRMA circle of events and all that you do is greatly appreciated.

    Keep up the great work.

Paul

PS   I do believe that there is a saying that behind every great man is........   Thanks also to Rosemary.
