My 1975 250 Penton has a stock Motoplat igniton system.  I might be getting to old for this stuff ,but the power comes on pretty much all at once! I was wondering what change would I see by going to the MZ-B or maybe the PVL with the optional rotor weight? The original plan was to keep this bike as an mx bike. Even at that ,a little more low end grunt might help in getting out of the corners smoother if not faster.I also undrstand that the newer systems are more reliable and provide a stronger spark?
Thanks for any input you might be able to provide.

I believe the MZb with slightly retarded timing is what you are looking for. Retard the timing .5mm and try it.
Also a 34 or 36 mm Mikuni carb will help also.

Randy does your 250 have a short intake manifold? If so get a longer one, the short one are for motorcross . A longer manifold will give you more lowend. Hope this will help Gary Ellis

Thank you for the reply's to my question. Is the Mikuni carb something that can still be purchased new and how do you differentiate between the short and long intake manifolds. I assume the difference in lenght is not all that much.
