I just bought decals from Al for my 69 project. The decal that goes on top of the tank has a blue background around a white KTM. Is this the correct color for the 125? The one on my tank is faded to all white.

Bob,
That is the sticker for the '68.  You need the sticker that has the four peoples name on it for the '69. Al may still have these.

Thanks for the info but the sticker that is on my tank is just like the 1 I got from Al. My frame # is 1056. The bike was bought new by the guy I bought it from so I know the tank is original. Another case of parts being used as they came down the line? Except for the airbox alot of stuff on this bike looks closer to the 68 than the 69.

Bob,
I can only speak for myself, but I consider you bike to be a 1968 model.  I have owned bikes up into the late 1200's  and early to mid 1300's that were 68 models.  Just my thoughts.  I am not an expert so I will let someone else tell you what they think.

I didn't start riding Pentons until 1972 before that it was Ossa. So I didn't pay alot of attention to them until then. This bike has the round airbox. I thought the 68's had the squarer box? I was also under the impresssion only the 3 digit bikes were 68's? I've had 3 74 250's frame range from 12/73-3/74 & I couldn't believe the differences in the bikes. Lot of running changes I guess?

Bob,
I have bought '68 bikes from the original owners that I was told came with the round air cleaner.  From what I have been told over the years that a lot of dealers that were involved with racing changed the boxes to stop any potential problems of some one loosing an engine due to the early air cleaners leaking air and dirt.  I hope this helps.

Thanks Ron. The search for info & the mystery are what makes this interesting.

Bob,
Good luck on your bike and send me a picture when you are finished.  Also if you need the measurements on where to put the sticker I will send you a picture with a measurement.
