250 Sachs on ebay

There's a 250 Sachs bike on ebay.  It's rough, missing the tank and seat, and the engine is stuck.  Looking at the frame I think that a CMF Penton tank would fit nicely.

I see people mention interest in these bikes from time to time.  If it were in my neck of the woods I might make a bid on it.  I've seen great bikes that started from less.

Item #  160073382865   doesn't look too bad.

I believe the bike is a Hercules.

You could ask the seller for the engine and frame numbers to find out the year and model.

Yep, It is a 1976 Hercules GS250/7a. It doesn't have the front engine mounts that the 1977 does.  Pretty rough shape.
I noticed that Carl Cranke is bidding on this bike also.

Actually it's me, not the real carl cranke. Just a fan who used his moniker for my eBay username. I bid on a 250 Hare Scrambler last year and signed up for eBay at the spur of the moment. Seemed appropriate when I was bidding on that nice old Penton last year!

Sounds like you're a lot closer to this bike in Missouri than I am up here in Ohio. Good luck with the bike!

Looking at the pictures of the Hercules what type of spark arrestor is on the exhaust part#,Manufacturer and how is it installed got a closeup? Thanks

What are you talking about ?  The Ebay bike has no silencer or spark arrestor on it.  
 We used the stock silencers back then and if we needed to add a spark arrestor we used the 3" Super Trapp with about 8 discs and the sound diffuser .  Not hard to install. Just remove the silencer cap cone and use an extension nut to join the Super Trapp to the exhaust.
