The Ohio Valley BSA Owners Club will be hosting their Spring Classic event on June 2 & 3.  This two day event is always a laid back, not a lot of rules, fun time.  A vintage trials will be run on both days along with a 75 mile Reliability Run on Saturday.

The Reliability Run is always a really fun ride over trails and some country roads, your bike should be " enduro legal ".  Alan Buehner trophied at this event last year when he teamed up with Ted Guthrie. Bring out your Pentons, or whatever, and enjoy this fun ride. I have ridden this event a number of times and it is not unusual to be riding with BSA Gold Stars, an Indian, some Nortons and possibly a BMW sidehack along with a bunch of Victors and other assorted BSAs. IT IS FUN.

The OVBSAOC trials are known to be about the best you will ever ride.  The loop in the trials section is worth the entry fee alone.

This is a non AHRMA event, not very expensive and a lot of fun.  You can camp at the event and they have food vendors on site.

Below is the press release for the Ohio Valley event. If you are in this area and can make this event it is a great time.  Two days of vintage trials, swap meet, road rides and the Reliability Run make up the weekend.

OVBSAOC Announces New Event
"Spring Classic" to be held June 2 & 3
Toronto, Ohio
February 1, 2007

The Ohio Valley BSA Owners Club announced today a new event for 2007. To be known as the "Spring Classic", this event will replace the "Can-Am Challenge Vintage Trials" which the club had promoted and sponsored for the past 15 years. The venue for the Spring Classic will be Cable's Campground, located in a wooded setting approximately 3 miles west of Toronto, Ohio, on County Road 56.

A club spokesman said the Spring Classic will feature several additional events in addition to two rounds of the Mid Atlantic Vintage Trials series and a swap meet. "We are planning several events aimed at the road rider on both Saturday and Sunday of the weekend meet", said club Road Captain John Schultz.  "Our rides to out-of-the-way dining locations have always been popular with attendees at our summer meet, and the Spring Classic should be no different. Plus, we have a few surprises in store as well", he added.

In addition to the events for the road rider, on Saturday morning the club will be holding a  Reliability Run which will feature 70 miles of bad road. "That's not really true", said club president Bob Wolfgang.  "Just because we have some off-road enthusiasts in our club , doesn't mean this will be an impossible ride. Just ask any of the guys who ride our Reliability Run in August. It is probably our most popular event". The Spring Classic Reliability Run should be approximately 70 miles in length and will feature secondary roads, dirt roads, trails, and some off-road sections. "The guys on the old enduro machines and dual-sporters will really like this ride, but a good rider on a sporting British Classic could also handle the route as well", he said.  The Reliability Run will require that a 24 mph average speed be maintained and is open to riders on all makes, models, and years. However, entrants must be road legal as some riding will be done on public roads.

For more information on the Spring Classic, call Bud Kubena at 724-945-6018, Clark Francy at 740-544-5984, or Jim Cable at 740-544-5411. Information is also posted on the club's website at //www.geocities.com/ovbsa

Just a reminder that this weekend is the Ohio Valley event.  I know that Alan Buehner is going to ride and he is looking to gather another win.   Ollie and Al Martin along with Bob McCullough have their Pentons all prepped and ready for the reliability run, I am heading to the chicken coup in a few minutes to see if my bike will fire up and hopefully Ted Guthrie will make a showing. If you like a good time at a laid back event give this one a try.

The reliability run starts at 9am on Sat. and will cover about 75 miles of easy trails and county roads.  Vintage trials start at 1pm on Sat. and 10am on Sunday.

Take the Costonia exit off of Ohio route 7, just north of Steubenville, Ohio and follow the signs.
