I have to say, this news I read today in Vintage Views is something to get excited about.
"Sponsoring group, Legends of MX has finalized the list of 2007 honorees to be saluted at each vintage motocross national."

At each Ahrma national VMX a legend is honored. The list includes, Tommy Croft, Marty Smith, Bob Hannah, Magoo Chandler, Kerry Klied, Tony D, Doug Grant, Gordy Ochs, Brad Lackey, Jeff Smith, Roger DeCoster, and....

...at the Portland, MI. race in August the honoree will be our very own Jack Penton. Awesome ! it's going to be a fun day - mark your calendars, it could become a PENTONFEST !

In 1972 the Penton brothers held a motocross school at the same track in Portland, MI. I'll have to dig that article out again and see just who all was there. I remember it also has a cool story covering the Penton clan racing each other in a special race.

Thanks Legends, Ahrma &
thanks POG.

Bob,

At last nights POG meeting, when asked about the Portland event, Jack explained a bit about the MX school that they presented years ago, he also told of his plans for the Portland race.  We hope to truely make that event a "Pentonfest" in Jack's honor and put on a Penton/POG display.  Possibly the theme of that display could be Penton MX machines, what do you think?

Thanks for the heads up on this event and the fact that Jack will be honored. If you could post some more information about the weekends schedule it would be appreciated.

More and more Pentons have been showing up for the AHRMA Cross Country races. The Portland CC will be Saturday morning with the Post Vintage MX following it. It will be tiring for those of us racing the two 1 hour CCs and then the MX!!!!

Bob, I took a bunch of pics in MIDO on the starting grid  of the race of champions. I dont know who any of the racers were, other than the flying Hawaiin and Jack penton. I also got some pretty cool pics of JP on the grid.

I raced with Jack at the Byron Ill. track back in the early 70's. I think 73/74, he lapped all of us, some maybe twice, he was smoking everyone that day.
