was there a right side shifting KTM engine?

Inside a box of misc. '74-'82 (KTM engine) transmission parts I found a shift shaft (complete) which extends about an inch and a quarter to the right of the "internal shift lever".

It is splined on both ends to fit the normal KTM shift lever.

Which makes me wonder what KTM this came from and was there ever a right side shifting KTM engine?

I own two 73 Piners (Black Motors) Both have shift shafts that go through the case on both sides and are splined on both sides.  The bikes are set up to shift on the left.  I've never seen one set up to shift on the right.

The later Piner motor (silver) shift shaft does not go through the case on the right side.

Hope this helpsI

Perhaps for flat track racing? You always see these bikes set up for racing with shifter AND brake pedal on the right side!
