Bud Green?  Six Days, obviously.  Maybe Germany,  1969?  way before my time by the way.

Heinz,

You aced this one, nice job.

To all,

After seeing numerous pictures of Bud Green over the years and reading about his Penton ISDT involvement, the mysterious Bud Green has finally surfaced, thanks to a chance encounter with POG member Nelson McCullough at one of Nelson's favorite hangouts in Daytona.  Nelson can tell the details of this chance meeting, but I can tell you we are sure grateful to Nelson for getting us hooked up with Bud.

Bud will be attending the POG meeting in Amherst next Thursday, riding up with Ed Youngblood, it sure will be exciting to meet this gentleman and hear of his Penton exploits.

Bud, if you read this, we are all really pleased to finally be able to meet another of the Penton Pioneers, we treasure the history of the Penton Sportcycle and those who rode them and we all welcome you to the Penton Owners Group family.

I also would like to thank webmaster Karen for taking the time to place the photo of Bud on the homepage.

Paul

PS   I see Kevin was responding correctly while I was writing, you guys are good.

Hi Bud,   Welcome to POG, looking forward to seeing you again !!

While in Daytona last month, Sylvia and I went for dinner at a favorite local spot called Boondocks'.  We sat down on the same side of the picnic tables they use, and facing the river.   I had looked around when we went in to see if anybody I might know.  I noticed the fellow at the next picnic table facing me, looking my direction a few times, and I thought he might know me, so I try shaking the cobwebs out to remember him.  He speaks to me, "I like your cap" !!    I had on my most recent Team Penton cap.  "Thank You" I respond.  He proceeds to advise me he rode a Penton a few years back with John.   I advise him I knew John as well.  He advises he rode on "Team Penton" with John in the 69 ISDT, with the first of the new alloy engines with the large head.  Now I am very impressed !!!   We exchange a few comments and I ask if he still has the Penton, and he advises he sold it, but asks if I had any ?  I said that our family have several with some projects in the works as well.  Bud and his wife, along with a friend, were finished eating and ready to leave.   He provided me with his E-Mail address, and ask if I would send him a few photos.  When I got back home, I contaced Bud, and we have exchanged several messages and photos, and he included the one on the HOME page.  I had to make Paul aware of this event in Florida.

Welcome again Bud !!   I can't make the next meeting in May, heading for Okla to visit my youngest son, to complete a 77 Penton GS6 250.   But I am looking forward to seeing you later this summer.   Give my Best to your wife !!    Regards,   Nelson McCullough

Message to all POGers, wear your caps and shirts, and see who else we can locate this summer.

Wonderful to hear of Bud Green being "located".  Nice story, from Nelson, also, and he is absolutely correct about wearing "team Penton" apparel.  Jeff Borer once told a story about settling into his seat on an airliner, only to have the flight attendant approach him and tell Jeff that the pilot wanted to see him.  Jeff reported feeling pretty nervous at that point.  However, it turns out that the pilot was a former Penton rider, and just had to confirm that the hat Jeff was wearing did indeed advertise Penton motorcycles.

Jeff of course took the opportunity to bring the fellow up to date on POG and encourage him to look in on all that is going on these days in the world of Penton motorcycles.  So, you just never know whose attention you may attract.

Looking forward to meeting Mr. Green at the POG meeting this week.
