100 or 125

I have a 1972 125cc motor except that the engine tag case says 1001/6B. I know the top end is a 125. Was this originally a 100cc lower end? Is there any difference between the 100cc and 125cc lower end.

Chuck,
There's no difference in the bottom end for a 100 or 125.  Someone may have changed the ignition cover when damaged. They are also the same except for the tags.
