Teddy and Dave I have some questions that a lot of people I know that are comming to the Reunion Ride need a very definitive answer to,reguarding the bike tech/inspection at the Zink ISDTRR in November.

It states on the flyer that you need a tail light--tag--headlight and USFS spark arrestor.

Does headlight have to work?

Does Taillight have to work?

Does tag have to be current?

Will you not pass a bike if they do not have a USFS silencer?

There will be some bikes show up without headlight or tag or spark arrestor. What are you going to do if that happens?

It really needs to be made clear what will be passed and what will not.Or are we going to say it needs all the above, then when tech time comes just pass them through reguardless.

Thanks for putting on the race Dave and to the Tulsa Trail Riders. We look forward to it.

I heard the Hodakas were also going to be required to have tassels on their handlebar ends, playing cards in the spokes, and a little basket on the back. :D

Seriously though, I was wondering about that myself BoJo. I think the Zink course is all on private property isnt it? Dont know why we would have to have anything other than the normal RR prep.

Bobby,
I can't speak for Teddy as far as the AHRMA tech inspection goes so we'll have to wait for his reply. As far as your other questions, I'll try to answer them as best I can. Our entry flyer is a copy of what has been used in years past and asks that all bikes be equipped with a headlight, taillight, license tag and spark arrestor. Basically the idea is to have all the bikes look like they are true ISDT machines of the past which had lights and a licence tag on them. Since this year's event will be ridden on private property we will not require the lights to work or the tag be current. Lets just make the bikes look the part if you know what I mean. We are asking that all the bikes have some type of muffler/silencer on them to limit the noise. We would like to have the opportunity to hold the event at Zink again in the future so a little bit of sound suppresion can go a long way toward that goal. If you have a spark arrestor on your bike that's great but we will only require a muffler or silencer. Hope this helps but let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks !!

Thanks that is what I needed to know.I know what you mean.My bikes is ready with everything already.I just wanted to get everything out in the open,so riders of all brands will know what they need to do.I know there is going to be a big # of Hodaka riders at the RR and a lot of them are total rookies to woods riding and ISDT prep.

I will pass along the info. All bike will look the part and have a spark arrestor/or a good silencer.

We have ridden National Enduros for years, and every club is different.I have seen them tell you one thing on the phone and when you get to the race it is totally different.I think the demise of the old enduro timekeeping format is mostly because of the silly bike requirments more that keeping time IMO.

Thanks so much for the info.

Sorry for not responding sooner, this is the first time I have been able to take the time to check out the POG site in months. Dave's answer was correct. The lights and license plate are for "looks" only, they don't have to work and the plate does not have to be current. I am using an old plate I had in the barn from the 70's. AHRMA rules state that mufflers are required, however there is nothing mentioned about spark arrestors, that is up to the land owner. Dave, would you check with the Zink Ranch and make sure that spark arrestors are not required? I don't remember anyone having them the last time we were there.

Hi all,
I've been getting a few questions about this so here is a quick recap of my earlier post. If you already have a spark arrestor mounted on your bike thats great but it isn't an absolute requirement for this ride. We will however want all bikes equipped with a good funtional muffler/silencer of some type. We also want all the bikes to have a headlight, taillight and a license tag mounted on them to make them look period correct. The lights do not need to function and the tag does not have to be current but please have them on the bike when you arrive. Thanks for your cooperation and see you soon.
