There were Pentons at the Steve McQueen Memorial Vintage MX at Eugene, Oregon, last weekend. Larry Good (oregon), Siege (Christopher James) and Gary Osborne (both Washington) had Pentons on hand.

LG won the second European 125 moto and placed second overall and also placed second overall in the 100cc class after a moto one win. Siege won the Trans-Am Intermediate class with a 2-1 score.

I did not race my steel tanker, but did ride my red bike (CZ) and won both Inter-Am Intermediate motos.

Look for my complete coverage in Cycle News in a few weeks.

Hi Clay, what determines the classes as "European" and "Trans-Am?"  Cool names [8D]

Hi Mick,

The "European" 125 is for the Penton, Husky, DKW, CZ, etc., and those bikes up to 1974. The Inter-Am, which is my class, is the 1968 to 1972 CZ, Maico, Husky,Yamaha DT-1, etc. The Trans-Am includes the 1975-77 Honda Elsinore, the Penton/KTMs like our buddy Siege has (1975-'76), and many other bikes, maybe even including the first-year YZ monoshock, but I'm not totally sure on that.......cool classes indeed!

the reason for added classes was to provide for those bikes that seemed to be overlooked by certain other nationally known vintage groups. I always thought it odd that the Premere class was for basically converted street bikes....:D
