Carl,
Is that the best company you can keep?  I know that we all must make sacrifices concerning the people that we travel with.  You gotta do what you have to do with the gas prices as they are today. :D Just kidding. Looking forward to seeing you.
By the by-you missed a great PIG Farm run last Sat. If Greg didn't tell about, you better get in his case.
See you down Old Dusty,
Paul

Nothing like waiting until the last minute...glad AHRMA extended the pre-entry deadline! Just mailed in mine & Gary's entries for the reunion ride. Really excited about seeing everyone there!

I just arrived home after spending the day with Steve Barber, one of his trail masters Bob and Kent Knudson. We rode some of the trails and special test sections that they have ready for the ISDTRR, I have to say that Steve and company have done an excellent job. Steve has tried to use mostly virgin trails, lots of work for him and his trail crew, but they want everyone to be pleased. I rode my 1973 125cc Penton to make sure that everything was vintage friendly.

The lay out and arrowing crew used a quad to make their way through the woods, that should give you an indication of the trail width. I hit my bars on one sapling and we plan on getting it wacked...  We did not get to ride all the trails as we needed to layout the grass track which should be fun for riders and spectators alike.

Those who like to camp will be very happy with the area set aside for camping, it is a very nice grassy field that overlooks a small pond and a covered bridge.  The covered bridge will be used for the start, fire up your bike and head across the covered bridge each morning. For this event the pond has been named John Penton Pond, there is a story behind the naming of the pond as John once shot up the hill behind the original Penton Brothers shop, I think on a BSA, and only at the last minute remembered that they had just dammed up the area at the top to make a pond, yep, you can guess what happened....

We also spent some time at the banquet facility getting final plans made, there is plenty of room for everyone and it is spotless.

In closing I must say that ERA President Steve Barber and crew have really worked hard to try to present everyone with a very enjoyable ISDT Reunion Ride experience, my hat is off to all of those folks.  Kent Knudson and his wonderful family have worked diligently in getting the banquet facility arranged and I think everyone will be very pleased with the facility and the dinner, a big thanks also goes out to Kent and his family for their efforts.

The entire area of the event is beautiful and the leaves are just starting to turn, hopefully all who attend will have a great experience.

How's the dust, Paul?  That RotR trailride we did yesterday was a dust bowl, but the trails were all very well-worn.  Sure glad to hear Steve and his group laid out some fresh stuff.

Ted,

Just a little dusty in some spots, hopefully the periods of rain in the 15 day forecast for the area will take care of that issue. Steve and company are using a lot of virgin trails that haven't been chewed up before and that really helps.

A very special Kodak moment will occur at the start of the Saturday morning ISDTRR ride. John Penton and Bud Green, both long time members of the Enduro Riders Association and ISDT Team members at the 1969 ISDT,  will be the honorary first two riders out.  If you are at the event you will surely want to be at the starting line to see these two ISDT heroes start and ride their Pentons across the covered bridge and emerge into what will hopefully be a large gathering of cheering onlookers.

MR Prez, I just bought a "GOPRO" Motorsports Hero helmet camera (5MP , 170 degree wide angle) and as soon as I get it, then figure it out, I'll be sure to bring it along for the ISDTRR and do some non professional filming.  Anyone else bringing one?  I think I will have the capability of 3 hrs video but not sure.  It will probably eat batteries as fast as my GS 400 eats gas[:o)]

brian kirby

Kip,

I will have a helmet camera and will be filming all of the test sections. I am uploading my film from the Tennessee Qualifier right now, I got all but one test section (operator error) and the Grass Track MX. I plan to do the same at the RR.

Kip,
I just got back from a week riding in SW Colorado where my son used his GOPRO helmet cam for the first time. It did a great job, even in the rain. Battery life was not an issue. He used lithium batteries and they still were going strong after about 3 hours of video although he did carry a spare set. Good luck.

I hope to have a few extra memory cards and a few sets of batteries.  I'll try to get used to it this weekend!  Thanks

In response to some questions about the ISDTRR numbering system....

Each rider will be assigned a three digit number for the reunion ride.  The last two numbers will indicate what minute the rider will leave the start line and the checks.  Three riders will ride on each minute, the first number will tell which of those three riders you are.  Such as 103 will be the first rider on the third minute, 347 will be the third rider on the 47th minute.

Your rider numbers will be in your rider packet that you will pick up at sign up.

Thanks
Paul

I usually shoot and eat squirrels. Shall I bring my varmint rifle?

Somebody throw a net over me!  I'm so excited at this point that I can hardly stand it.  And now this news about John Penton and Bud Green taking the start - can it get any better?
